M. Bavard is the french version of Roger Hargreaves’ Mr Chatterbox. Furthermore, M. Bavard is a great book for children’s education.
About the author of M. Bavard
Roger Hargreaves was known best for his Mr Men and Little Miss series. He was an English author and illustrator of children’s books. Hargreaves died in September 1988.
Over 85 million copies have been sold worldwide in 20 languages since 1971. The stories are simple and humorous with brightly coloured, bold illustrations.
His education began at Sowerby Bridge Grammar School (now Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge). He then worked for a year in his father’s laundry and dry-cleaning business before becoming a literary agent.
The initial goal of his career was to be a cartoonist, and in 1971 he created a successful series of cartoon characters for Askit Powders. They used them on TV between 1971 and 1994.
Furthermore, he also wrote the first Mr Men book, Mr Tickle, in 1971 while working as the creative director for a London-based publishing company.
At first, finding a publisher was challenging, but once he found one, the books immediately became successful, selling more than one million copies within three years.
There was also an animated BBC television series based on the books narrated by Arthur Lowe.
Having thrown in the towel by 1976, Hargreaves decided to quit working.
As a result, he created the Little Miss book series in 1981. And a television series was broadcast in 1983, with Pauline Collins and her husband, John Alderton, as narrators.
Hargreaves also wrote 25 books called Timbuctoo, John Mouse, and the Roundy and Squarey books, but he is most famous for the Mr. Men series and the Little Miss series.
