About the artist of Wink: Ken Nordine Does Robert Shure

Kenneth Nordine was born in Cherokee, Iowa, to Theresia and Nore Nordine. He was the son of Swedish parents. He attended Cherokee High School.

They later moved to Chicago, where he graduated from Lane Technical College Prep High School and attended the University of Chicago.

His word jazz albums were probably his best-known work. Ken Nordine was an American voice artist and recording artist from 1920 to 2019.

Besides appearing in commercials and movies, they used Ken Nordine’s deep voice in commercial advertisements. On the other hand, one critic wrote: “you may not recognize Ken Nordine’s face, but you are almost certainly familiar with his voice.

Nordine began performing and recording such albums at the peak of the beat era and was associated with the poetry-and-jazz movement.

Although some of Nordine’s pieces are not as close to the beats as others “are more like Franz Kafka or Edgar Allan Poe,” others consider Nordine’s writing to be similar to Kafka or Poe.

He is known for his word jazz tracks, which often engage in critiques of social norms. Some of them are humorous, but others depict dark, paranoid undertones and weird, dream-like scenarios.

At the 2007 High Line Festival, organized by David Bowie in New York, he performed.

Ken Nordine’s life

Ken Nordine was married to the former Beryl Vaughn, who died on April 26, 2016. Together they had three sons. Ken Nordine, unfortunately, died on February 16, 2019.

In an article published in the New York Times Magazine on June 25, 2019, Ken Nordine was among hundreds of artists whose work the fire destroyed in the Universal fire in 2008.
