About the author of The Secret of the Rosary

Grignion de Montfort (31 January 1673 – 28 April 1716) was a Roman Catholic priest and confessor in France. And known as a preacher. And appointed a missionary apostolic by Pope Clement XI.

Along with preaching, Montfort wrote several classic Catholic titles. And is an influential figure in the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, known for his particular devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the manner of praying the Rosary.

In addition, his major works on Marian’s devotion are in Secret of the Rosary and True Devotion to Mary. Consequently, Montfort was one of the earliest writers in the field of Mariology.

As a result, Saint Louis de Montfort was canonized on 20 July 1947 by Pope Pius XII. A statue of Montfort made by Giacomo Parisini is in St. Peter’s Basilica’s south nave.
