About the author of The Psychic Adventures of Derek Acorah

Born into a family of Frederick Johnson and Elizabeth Courtney, Derek Francis Johnson grew up in the North West of England, in the Scarisbrick area near Southport.

At the age of six, Acorah saw his deceased grandfather at his grandmother’s house for the first time. It was his first encounter with spiritualism.

As a result, he later became a medium, claiming that his grandmother, a psychic, had inspired him to do so. Additionally, he adopted the name Acorah, which he said came from a Dutch ancestor.

A number of his seances were controversial, with some alleging he made contact with high-profile figures. His career as a medium was undaunted by allegations of fakery.

Acorah has played football before becoming a medium and was once signed to Liverpool’s roster but was later injured.

As a direct result of the brief illness that Acorah suffered, he died on 4 January 2020. His wife confirmed that he went to the hospital with pneumonia. And they later discovered that Acorah had also contracted sepsis.
